Tapas is a centuries-old tradition in Spain & part of the fiber of Spanish life. According to legend, the tapas tradition began when King Alfonso X of Castile recovered from an illness by drinking wine with small dishes between meals. After regaining his health, the King ordered that all wine must be served with a small snack or "tapa."
The concept for these delectable, appetizer-like foods springs from the long gap between lunch and traditional Spanish dinner. In Spain, friends regularly gather at tapas bars after work to gossip, argue, talk sports or just meet before going home for dinner. A communal culture, where tapas are beautifully presented and quickly replaced as samplings are taken is an integral part of Spanish culture.

Great food - atrocious service.
The food was awesome, but our waitress was terrible. She took our order and never came back until it was time to drop off the check. Had to beg someone else to wrap up our leftovers. When she took our card she ran it for five hundred bucks instead of fifty, and lied about the "card being not run" -- owner (cheryl??) told us -- "nothing we can do" -- She stated "that having your card overcharged is just a risk you take with using debit cards". Seemed more to be just careless to me. When we suggested she comp us a freakin' coffee or something, she said "it sounds like all you want is a free meal". To summarize -- food was great, but the owner was terrible and the service was ever MORE terrible. Also this place used to be called "Jap-astry" so I think they're racist.

My partner and I visited this place as a last minute choice on an unexpected date night. We had no problems finding a seat and the service was quick and efficient. Not amazing service but quite good nonetheless.
They had flamenco dancers performing that evening. The dancers were passionate and engaging. They helped make simple authentic and tasty food that much more an experience to share.
The atmosphere was festive, friendly and totally worth a try.
