Sometimes I find it hard to read other people's reviews without know what they've compared against or like soooo, a little intro. I just moved here from Hoboken and consider oustanding Italian to be: Eataly, Ballato's, Scallini Fedeli, in NY. Great Italian is Anthony Davids in Hoboken or Babbo, Crispo, even Cucina de Pesce in the city. Salute has elements of great. It does have great service for a super busy and loud restaurant (no exageration there). However, it's more along the lines of a Crispo. Solid, not going to blow your socks off and make you feel like you've transported to Italy. Great dishes we had and loved: artichokes appetizer, arancino, trifolati pizza, garganelli. Avoid the chicken..it was dry and salty. Otherwise, a solid place to go...just be prepared to shout (you won't mind after a few glasses of wine).

great meal in very pleasant space
Food was teriffic. Unusual appetizers- fresh figs w/ cheese and prosuitt- so good! Each of our entres was delicious and well served- porkchops; salmon and chicken- no room for desert. Dining room is well designed incorporating brick wall; faux windows and baskets of produce. They installed sound control panels on the ceiling to reduce the noise. Waiter was very pleasant and attentive. We found street parking... I'll go back!

We went there this past saturday.Started out with no parking anywhere within 8 blocks.As soon as you walk in it is without exageration louder than a high school cafeteria during a food fight.It was so loud that our waiter had to crouch down and yell the specials into our ears.They are very disorganized and the food was less than cheap pizzeria quality.We eat in Montclair and Caldwell restaurants all the time and this is the worst place ever.I have never written a review like this but I felt that I had to because it was THAT BAD. Dont waste your money or a night out on this place !!

I think their pizza is the best. I went there for pizza on Friday-take out, Sat., sat down for dinner and Tuesday-Pizza take out again. I would highly recommend this restaurant. I Love IT?? Once you go you have to keep coming back.

The food is true blue, well prepared in full mediterranean rustic Italian regalia and the hustle/bustle atmosphere is good to boot.
