Our first reaction was, there's only 2 people here in a Saturday night. We decided to stay since this restaurant was highly recommended and we were glad we did. The food is outstanding from the salad to the cheesecake. The basa oreganata is superb, however, a bit over-priced for this fish, but I would definitely order it again. The atmosphere was the only thing about our whole experience that we weren't crazy about. It is very outdated and needs a lift. However, don't let that stop you from experiencing some of the best food in the area.

Don't pass Mezza Lira up!
Did a quick search before heading to Monclair for a dinner and show. What a find! The food was exceptional and the price was reasonable. I know the atmosphere is not the best, but once this place is found and the crowds start coming watch out.

Been to Mezza Lira twice. Both times enjoyed great food at very reasonable prices. The Bassa Oreganta is delicious. Can't understand why more people don't go.C'mon Montclair--check it out!

We've eaten at Mezza Lira and have catered from here and the food is outstanding! Try the Rigatoni Salsiccia or the Rigatoni Roma. The restaurant is charming and your guaranteed a great meal. Love the family feeling of the restaurant

Went on the website looking for a place to go lastnight and decided to come to Mezza Lira. My wife and I were very satisfied with the food. I loved the chicken Brian and the rigatoni with shrimp in a brandy sauce! We are going back they are going to have live entertainment on October 30. Have to try it will not be disappointed.

BEST ITALIAN FOOD AROUND!
I pass this place everyday going home from work and never stopped in. So, last night(9/27/09) I decided to give it a try and let me tell you this is the Best Food in all of Montclair. Don't be turned away because of the location(that's why I was hesitant at first). They have brought New York style Italian Food to New Jersey at Great Prices. I had the Rigatoni with Sausage and it was out of this world. It's ground sausage(not chunks like everyone else makes it) in a pink sauce. The staff is super friendly. I can't remember any other restaurant where the owner goes around and spends time with each customer. I felt like I was back in my mother's kitchen for Sunday dinner. If you like Italian food this is the place to eat and if you don't like Italian food this place will change your mind.

Everthing was so tasty. Have to try the egglplant rollantini as a appetizer and loved the basa oreganta. Was hesitating going in not real busy yet. Glad we tried it cant wait to go back!
